Them wooden reaches actually lasted right into the late 60's, at least on the bigger off highway KW's. The plank roads went out in the 50's, mostly. That style of plank road replaced the older fore and aft road, which was made from logs instead of planks. Both Moresby and Juskatla used plank roads, which can still be seen under the gravel in some places. They would actually take a small mill into the bush, and cut planks as they went. Only the mainline, the spurs were usually un planked.
