World's Craziest Volkswagen Van Camper Drives on Its Side

"Dude, what?" That's what exactly we said after seeing the "thing" filmed in today's video, and your reaction to this will be something similar we presume! Jeff Bloch, a crazy mechanic and a former police officer, managed to transform a 1975 Volkswagen Van Camper into the world's one of the
most interesting race cars.

We hear you asking how he managed it. Well, let us say then: by putting it on its side! Nicknamed as Trippy Tippy Hippy Van, this Volkswagen van, as you'll also see in the video, is on its side. Technically, it's a 1988 Volkswagen Rabbit chassis with a 1.8-liter 16-valve GTI engine, strong enough to power the contraption to 60 miles per hour in about 8 seconds, with Bus body panels attached sideways. Bloch wanted to build a sideways race car, and this 1975 VW campervan, with its box-like shape, was the perfect vehicle to do it.
