I Turned a Brass Rod Into a Precision Scribing Tool
In this video I machine a precision scribing tool from a brass rod (Ø14mm) — entirely on the lathe. For the tip of the scriber, I chose 3mm 115CrV3 silver steel (1.2210). I sharpened the tip on a belt grinder and then heat-treated it. This steel can reach a hardness of up to 64 HRC. I haven't tempered it yet!
