What Happens When you Work an Old Engine After 97 Years?
Have you ever wondered what happens when you try to work an old engine after a long, I mean "very long", time? Well, check out the video below and see what really happens! The Darracq V8 world land speed engine has been rebuilt and the first attempt to fire it up after "97 years" took place and is filmed in Worcestershire, England.
The last time it worked was in June 1909 exactly when Algenon Lee Guinness, a man specialized in straight-line speed trials and record attempts, took a British and European Record. At first, not everything gone according to plan, but after trying for a few time, this 200hp engine was fired up successfully. As you will see and hear in the video below, it sounds and looks amazing.
